Construction Site: Progress to report
Restoration/rehabilitation work on the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec monastery is going full bore. January coincided with the start of work building the future restaurant, which will be located inside the Saint-Augustin wing and can be accessed from the lobby. Meals will be served in this facility beginning in summer 2015.
Ninety percent (90%) of mechanical work was finished as of the end of December. Equipment will be gradually brought into service so as to be fully up and running by the end of April. This phase is of vital importance, since no museum furnishings can be installed or valuable collection artifacts displayed before it has been completed.
If everything goes according to plan, the project should be delivered to the Fiducie in April. However, additional finishing work will still have to be completed on the lobby, the second floor and the archive centre. We are also waiting for spring to arrive before tackling the landscaping! Stay tuned for further developments!
