LES INFIRMIÈRES: A NEW 3-PART TV DOCUMENARY SERIES
Les infirmières is a documentary produced by Tout Écran that will air on Historia in February and March (in French only).
Sister Lise Tanguay, Sister Berthe Lemay and Sister Gilberte Moreau of l’Hôtel-Dieu de Québec monastery appear in the series.
Synopsis / At the beginning of the 20th century, nursing (or being a “garde-malade”) was generally considered to be a vocation rather than a profession. It seemed only too natural that women – and particularly religious women – would offer patient care without the benefit of any real official recognition. Since that time, the healthcare system has undergone a metamorphosis, and so has the role of these healthcare professionals. Theirs is a story of solidarity and constant struggle that allowed them to claim their place and better define a job that combines science and the art of treating the most vulnerable with care.
Don’t miss the premier (episode 1 of 3) on Historia: Monday, February 17 at 8 pm.
