NEW CONSTRUCTION SITE SIGNS
When Le Monastère des Augustines opens in 2015, the public will access the buildings via rue des Remparts and rue Charlevoix, where two new construction site signs were recently put up.
Future visitors arriving at either one of these two entrances will be able to make their way to Le Monastère’s future glassed-in lobby that will create a new physical link between the two public entrances.
In addition to offering universal access to the complex, the new contrasting construction will highlight the fact that this historic former cloister is open to the public for new purposes. The open and transparent linear form will act as a contemporary urban sign of the new life of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec monastery.
Drilling in the bedrock is almost complete. This new architectural component will likely begin to rise in the next few months.
